Privacy Policy
Summary
Overview
Vim What? ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what the Extension does with your data — which is almost nothing.
What we collect
We collect nothing. The Extension stores a small set of preferences locally on your device using your browser's localStorage API:
- Your selected keyboard layout (e.g. QWERTY, Colemak, Dvorak)
- Your current lesson level
- Which keys you have marked as "learned"
- Any custom key mappings you have added
These values never leave your device and are never transmitted to any server.
What we do not collect
- Personal information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or activity
- IP addresses or device information
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Cookies or tracking data
Permissions explained
Vim What? requires no special browser permissions. It runs entirely within its popup window and does not access any web page content, tabs, or browsing data.
Third-party services
The Extension uses no third-party services, analytics, advertising networks, crash reporters, or external APIs of any kind.
Website analytics disclosure
The Vim What? product website (vimwhat.com) uses Google Analytics and LogRocket to understand visitor traffic and improve the site experience. These services operate only on the marketing website — they are not present in the browser extension itself. No extension user data is ever shared with these services.
Children's privacy
The Extension collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. It is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the Extension's version number will be updated and the change will be noted in the Chrome Web Store release notes.
